WHY POLLINATE?

Adequate pollination is critical for maximizing the quantity of a crop and ensuring the best quality, as poor pollination results in crops of fruits, nuts, seeds, berries and vegetables that tend to be smaller and often misshapen compared to the well pollinated crops that markets demand. Lack of pollination also often results in lower yield, with some crop's yields increasing by over 50% when introduced to adequate pollination.

Between the large size of today’s farms and the severe population declines that our natural pollinators have suffered in recent decades, many farmers today must contract with beekeepers to truck in honeybees to ensure their crops are well pollinated.

Pollination Services: Our Story

HOW IT WORKS

Once you reach out, we'll contact you to review details such as location, crop type, and acreage. This may be followed up by a site visit to get an adequate placement strategy. Once this is done, we will provide you with a custom quote and strategy based on your land, crop needs, and location. We'll also provide an estimation of yield increase based on research. The entire quotation and consultation process is free of charge and any questions can be answered throughout the entire process.

If the quote is accepted we'll provide a contract outlining what you can expect from us and schedule your pollination window. During this window the bee colonies will be delivered and placed with your crops according to the plan and naturally pollinate your crops. Throughout this period our beekeepers will maintain the colony fully to ensure the best value. For most crops this window is from just before initial flowering until about 25% fruiting. After the window is over our beekeepers will remove all the colonies safely.

FAQ

Pollination Services: List

WHAT TYPES OF CROPS BENEFIT FROM HONEYBEE POLLINATION?

Many crops are benefited by bee pollination, including most Fruits, Nuts, Squash, and Berries. Please see the table below for a more complete list.

HOW MUCH DOES POLLINATION COST?

Every client is different, and your quotes are completely customized to need. Right now our rates are the lowest in the industry to encourage new clients, and generally fall around $50 per colony per month of pollination. We require half of the total payment at contract signing to lock the pollination window and the remaining cost at delivery, or you have the option to pay the full total at contract signing for a discount.

HOW MANY COLONIES WILL I NEED?

Just like with cost, every client is different. Most crops reach their max potential yield at about 2 colonies per acre, but some crops need a higher concentration to reach max potential. Colonies can also be spread out among crops for a lesser yield improvement for lower cost.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

We ask that clients provide a space among crops that is easily driven up to, as well as access to those sites. The placement will be planned as part of the consultation process. Beyond that, our beekeepers maintain the colonies to keep them at full strength and handle the dropoff/pickup. In most cases colonies only need to be inspected by our beekeepers once every other week at most.
